WASHINGTON -- Joe Ross' rehab assignment has been put to a halt after the Nationals right-hander experienced soreness in his shoulder, according to manager Dusty Baker. There is no timetable as to when Ross will pitch again.
"We are trying to figure out what to do, because sometimes he is a little sore," Baker said. "You want to get that soreness out of there, plus he gets to start the rehab over again [once he is ready to pitch]. That's No. 1."
Ross, 23, hasn't pitched in the Majors since July 2. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list the following day with right shoulder inflammation. Since then, Ross made two rehab starts, allowing three runs in 7 2/3 innings.
Ross is 7-4 with a 3.49 ERA in 16 starts for the Nats this season.
