March 14th, 2016

VIERA, Fla. -- The Nationals have been giving their starting position players a lot of playing time lately, and with starting pitchers starting to ramp up the innings, playing time will start getting harder to come by. So the club trimmed its Spring Training roster by seven players Monday in the latest round of cuts.
Outfielder Brian Goodwin and left-hander Sammy Solis were optioned to Triple-A Syracuse; left-hander Nick Lee, catcher Spencer Kieboom and infielder Chris Bostick were sent to Double-A Harrisburg; while infielder Matt Skole and outfielder Logan Schafer were both reassigned to Minor League camp.

Bostick was 4-for-12 with four RBIs this spring, while Goodwin and Kieboom were each 3-for-11. Schafer was in his first spring camp with the Nationals after spending five seasons with the Brewers. Skole was 3-for-15 with a home run.
Lee and Solis each pitched four innings; Lee had yet to surrender a run while Solis yielded three.
