Williams unsuccessfully challenges play in 11th

Umpire rules Reds' Heisey safe at first base, and call on field stands

WASHINGTON -- Nationals manager Matt Williams tried to take advantage of replay in the top of the 11th inning of Monday night's game against the Reds, but was unable to get the call reversed.

With Reds runners on first and second and one out, Zack Cozart lined out to Nationals third baseman Anthony Rendon, who tried to double up Chris Heisey at first for the third out. But first-base umpire Marty Foster called Heisey safe.

Williams challenged the call, and after three minutes and 39 seconds, the ruling on the call stood.
