WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- The Nationals re-assigned five players, all pitchers, to their Minor League camp prior to Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Cardinals at The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches.
Those sent down were right-handers Mike Broadway, Derek Eitel, Kyle McGowin and Wander Suero, and lefty Tim Collins.

"We're getting to a point where some of the guys, especially the pitchers, are either backing up or getting [only] one inning, and you've got to stretch them out at some point in time," Nationals manager Dusty Baker said of the cuts, all of whom were non-roster invitees to Major League camp.

So far this spring, Baker said that the prospects who have impressed him the most are outfielders Andrew Stevenson and Rafael Bautista.
"They've played quite a bit," Baker said, although neither were in the starting lineup Friday. "I think they probably have more at-bats than anyone on our team, which happens early."
Baker also singled out catcher Raudy Read and pitcher Erick Fedde, a right-hander, as catching his eye this spring.

"We've got some good arms," Baker said of the young pitching prospects in the organization. Baker said it's uncertain how close to the Majors they are, however.
"It depends on what we need and it depends on how much more schooling and education they're going to need at this level," Baker said. "I think all of them are close. Whether they get their secondary pitches over or not, or they can get the slider [working], this is what is going to determine how close. Do you find the zone? We've got a couple of guys, [Austin] Adams and Broadway, I mean they've got electric arms. It's early, but they've had trouble finding the zone down here."
