LOS ANGELES -- The Nationals are likely to do more than just trade for players during the pennant stretch. They will also go to their Minor League system and look for help.
Here are eight players who warrant consideration for promotion to the big leagues:
OF Matt den Dekker: den Dekker has already been called up twice and was a valuable backup. He will probably get a callup if one of the outfielders goes down with an injury.
OF Brian Goodwin:  As of Tuesday, Goodwin is having his best season since he was drafted by the Nationals in 2011, hitting a career-high .302 with a .367 on-base percentage for Triple-A Syracuse.
C Pedro Severino: Severino already impressed manager Dusty Baker with his game-calling skills and patience with the bat. Severino, who is ranked as the No. 10 prospect in the Nationals' system, according to MLBPipeline.com, will most likely get a September callup.

SS Trea Turner: Baker loves speed and if he needs it in the late innings, Turner could be the guy. Turner, who is ranked as the second-best prospect in the Nats' system, will likely be a late-season callup now that Danny Espinosa has picked up his game at the plate.
RHP Lucas Giolito: If someone falters in the rotation, Giolito could get first crack. MLBPipeline.com named him the best prospect in the system. Giolito is now in his second season with Double-A Harrisburg. The team monitored his innings to start the season, but since May 25, Giolito has gone six or more innings in four out of his last five outings.
RHP A.J. Cole : Cole's velocity is up and he is throwing his secondary pitches for strikes. The No. 7 prospect will likely get a spot start or come out of the bullpen once he gets back to the big leagues.

RHP Koda Glover: Glover was taken in the eighth round of last year's Draft, and one scout believes he could be a September callup and make the bullpen even better. Glover, ranked as the No. 19 prospect in the Nats' system, started this season with Class A Potomac and is now with Harrisburg. After a slow start with Harrisburg, Glover's ERA has dropped to 3.22. Glover has averaged 12.4 strikeouts per nine innings this season.
RHP Reynaldo Lopez: When he is on, the organization's fifth-best prospect could be a dominate starter, as he's struck out 90 batters in 68 1/3 innings. It will be tough for him to break into the rotation, however. Giolito is ahead of him, so once he gets to the big leagues, Lopez could be considered for bullpen duty.
