Nationals-Tigers matchup rained out

LAKELAND, Fla. -- The jerseys and hats were green for the Tigers on St. Patrick's Day. The weather was overwhelmingly gray -- and wet, washing out Monday's scheduled Grapefruit League game between the Tigers and Nationals at Joker Marchant Stadium.

The game will not be rescheduled.

Though the weather was dry in the morning, the Tigers had the tarp on the field in anticipation of potentially bad weather. Once the rain arrived around midday, it continued well past the scheduled 1:05 p.m. ET start.

Up next: Tanner Roark, who was scheduled to start Monday, will pitch in a Minor League game on Tuesday, an off-day for the Nationals. On Wednesday at 6:05 p.m. on MLB.TV, the Nationals will host the Astros at Space Coast Stadium in Viera, Fla. The Nats have not announced their starter for that game. In their last meeting, Washington defeated Houston, 4-3, in Kissimmee, Fla.
