Nationals to open 2013 schedule at home vs. Miami
Washington is slated to open the year on Monday, April 1, at Nationals Park with a three-game series against the division-foe Marlins, followed by a brief trip to Cincinnati.
The Nationals will end the year on a six-game road trip that includes stops in St. Louis and Phoenix.
With ESPN's Opening Day slot on the night of March 31 remaining open, the early part of Washington's schedule is subject to change.
Because of the Astros' move to the American League next season and a resulting 15 teams in each league, Interleague Play will happen each day throughout the Major League schedule. The Nationals will have their first series against an American League foe on April 9, when they welcome the White Sox to Washington for three games.
The last Interleague series comes against the Royals, from Aug. 23-25. The Nats were 10-8 in Interleague Play this season, outscoring AL opponents 69-57.
Eight of Washington's last 10 series come against National League East teams.
The schedule also includes an annual Beltways battle against the Orioles, with two games played in Washington May 27-28, followed by two games in Baltimore on May 29-30.
The Nats also have an intriguing Interleague season series against the Tigers, which includes two games in early May and two in late July, with a potential showdown between aces Stephen Strasburg and Justin Verlander on tap.
The Nats will play host to the Brewers on July 4, and will travel again to New York to face the Mets on Sept. 11.
