New Era Pinstripe Bowl schedule of events

The New Era Pinstripe Bowl announced activities scheduled for the week leading up to the inaugural game on December 30, 2010 at Yankee Stadium. Participating schools Syracuse University and Kansas State University will take part in special events, promotions and community outreach throughout New York City during the week of the bowl game to create an unforgettable experience.

Both teams are tentatively scheduled to arrive in New York City on Sunday, December 26, with Syracuse staying at the Grand Hyatt and Kansas State staying at the Sheraton New York. Players, coaches and university staff will take part in events in the days prior to the game, showcasing their respective universities to the New York metropolitan area.

The week is highlighted by three very special community events involving the participating schools. On Monday, December 27, select Kansas State players making a visit to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. In addition, both schools' marching bands will hold a "Battle of the Bands" for invited high school performing arts students just prior to the game's kickoff on Thursday, December 30 at Macombs Dam Park.

Members of the participating schools will also have the opportunity to ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange on the morning of Tuesday, December 28, before they take in the sights of New York City on a World Yacht cruise around New York Harbor that evening. The following morning, on Wednesday, December 29, Syracuse and Kansas State will visit Times Square for a breakfast at the Hard Rock Cafe.

On Monday, December 27, the Syracuse Orange will conduct a workout at the New York Giants' Timex Performance Center and the Kansas State Wildcats at a to be determined locale. Both teams will work out at the New York Jets' Atlantic Health Training Facility in Florham Park, NJ, on Tuesday, December 28. A media availability hour involving both team's coordinators and select players has been scheduled for December 28 from 1:00-2:00 p.m., in between the two practices. On Wednesday, December 29, Syracuse head coach Doug Marrone and Kansas State head coach Bill Snyder will be available to media at a press conference at Yankee Stadium at 12:45 p.m.

In addition to the special bowl week events, the New Era Pinstripe Bowl has organized a series of community initiatives with New York City's Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL) leading up to the big game, including installing a new all-grass football field at Harry S. Truman High School in the Bronx, hosting the PSAL Football Championship Game on Tuesday, December 7 at Yankee Stadium and honoring the best scholar-athletes in New York City on Monday, December 20 at Yankee Stadium during their first annual "MVP Dinner."

More information regarding each specific event as well as media credentialing and access will be passed along at a later date. Please note that transportation will be provided to credentialed media to and from the practice facilities on Monday, December 27 and Tuesday, December 28, originating from the Brooklyn Marriott media hotel.
