New MLB ads team Springsteen with contenders

With the final month of the regular season set to begin this weekend, Major League Baseball on Thursday debuted two new 30-second ads featuring season highlights paired with music from Bruce Springsteen.

The two spots -- one focusing on the postseason contenders in the American League and the other on those in the National League -- are part of the "Legends Are Born in October" postseason theme, and they feature Springsteen's "Land of Hope and Dreams."

The commercials will run on each network carrying postseason games, including TBS, FOX and MLB Network, as well as across MLB.com. The montages, created by Turner Sports, will also run on in-stadium video boards at Major League ballparks.

Each spot runs a combination of this season's highlights from contending teams, spliced with concert footage of Springsteen and the E Street Band. Among the featured highlights are clips from two of this season's perfect games by the NL West-leading Giants' Matt Cain and Philip Humber of the AL Central-leading White Sox.

A number of other stars, including Andrew McCutchen, Chipper Jones, Derek Jeter, Josh Hamilton, Bryce Harper and Mike Trout will also be showcased in the promotions.

The 2012 postseason begins October with the inaugural Wild Card Games presented by Budweiser. Both of those games will air exclusively on TBS.
