Mets pitching prospect Rafael Montero is continuing his swift ascension up the organizational ladder.

The 22-year-old right-hander has been promoted to Triple-A Las Vegas, the Mets announced on Friday.

Ranked by MLB.com as the No. 8 prospect in the Mets' system, Montero posted a 7-3 record and a 2.43 ERA in 11 starts for Double-A Binghamton this year. He originally signed with the franchise in January 2011.

That ensuing season, he pitched his way to Class A Brooklyn. The following year, he suited up for Class A Savannah and high Class A St. Lucie before joining Binghamton this season.

In 49 career Minor League outings (44 starts), Montero has compiled a 23-13 mark and a 2.33 ERA, with 253 strikeouts in 266 1/3 innings.
