50th Anniversary Employee Recognition: A's employees Harold Miller and Max Jacinto will be honored before the Sunday, Sept. 25 for their 50 years of employment at the Oakland Coliseum. Harold and Max were working as ticket takers on September 18, 1966 when the Coliseum hosted its very first event, a NFL game between the Oakland Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs. Over the years, they've been part of many significant events on property: six World Series appearances by the A's, two Super Bowl winning seasons with the Raiders, two NBA Finals with the Warriors and countless concerts and other events. Max is still a ticket taker welcoming fans at C Gate and Harold now works in the press dining lounge.
School of Imagination visit: Stephen Vogt will visit with students at Dublin's School of Imagination on Tuesday, Sept. 20 from 10:30 a.m. - noon. Year Up! connects young adults to careers and opportunity, with professional clothing and philanthropic support provided by the Men's Wearhouse. This year's presentation will take place before the Tuesday, Sept. 20 game with Men's Wearhouse Executive Vice President/Brand President Scott Norris and Year Up! Interim Executive Director Emily Shaffer.
A's Amigos: The A's Amigos program gives bilingual Spanish-speaking children from non-profit organizations the opportunity to interact with bilingual A's players. A's Amigos is sponsored by Kelly-Moore Paints.
Green Stampede Homework Club: On select games throughout the season, elementary school students will visit the Coliseum to receive help with their homework from tutors and aides. A's Community Fund Silent Auction: Every Saturday and Sunday home game (and other select games), the A's Community Fund hosts a silent auction featuring signed and unsigned A's memorabilia as well as game-used items.
