Next step for Greinke is facing batters

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Dodgers pitcher Zack Greinke is scheduled to throw to hitters on Saturday. He threw a 25-pitch bullpen session on Thursday.

"I know he's getting on the mound, and it makes me happy," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. "It's the start of the process. I would think he would be in the 30 [pitches] range. It's kind of like his first outing."

Greinke, who injured his right calf four pitches into his first start of spring, is not expected to make the Dodgers' season-opening trip to Australia. He is on track to pitch in a Spring Training game next week.
