Castellanos has left wrist checked out

Slugger dealing with ligament sprain; Fulmer expects to make next start

CHICAGO -- Turns out the Tigers did have an injury victim from Thursday's fracas with the Yankees. ' left wrist flared up Friday to the point that he had to have it checked out.
Castellanos said he has a ligament sprain, and was out of the lineup Saturday after being a late scratch from Friday's series opener against the White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field. However, he expects to be back in the lineup for Sunday's series finale.
Castellanos is not sure how he injured it or in which benches-clearing situation he did so Thursday. He was on deck when and began trading punches, and he was one of the first players in to try to break it up. Other players in the pile said they were spiked or roughed up.

By the end of the game, Castellanos realized his wrist was sore. He had it wrapped on Friday, but while he could swing a bat, fielding was a concern.
"I was sore from pulling [Aaron] Judge off Miggy," said after his start Friday. "That's a big boy. …
"You think about it, you're trying to pull a big human being and everybody's pushing and shoving and you're fighting other guys, just a lot of strenuous activity. And if your body's not really used to it? I'm not an MMA fighter, I don't know about anybody else. Your body's not quite used to it."
Fulmer good to go for next week
As for , whose ulnar neuritis flare-up sent his fastball in on to raise the tensions early in that game Thursday, he said his arm felt fine throwing the next day. He expects to make his next turn in the Tigers' rotation on Tuesday against the Rockies.
Unless any further flare-ups prevent him from pitching, Fulmer said he plans to finish out the season. Aside from those episodes, he said he simply has to pitch through numbness from time to time.
The Tigers will have the luxury of extra starting pitchers once rosters expand next Friday. and are both expected to return from the disabled list, and while manager Brad Ausmus downplayed the possibility of a six-man rotation, he said he has discussed the idea with his coaches.
