SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Nick Ahmed's third hit on Monday night was a walk-off single that gave the D-backs a 3-2 win over the Brewers at Salt River Fields. The Arizona shortstop went 3-for-5 and is hitting .429 for the spring.
D-backs left-hander Patrick Corbin allowing an unearned run on five hits in a solid 5 1/3 innings, but he was bested for the first three by Josh Hader, a left-hander ticketed for the Minors this season. The Brewers' No. 4 prospect was tabbed to start the nightcap of a split-squad doubleheader for Milwaukee, which defeated the Angels earlier in the day at Maryvale Baseball Park.

Hader pitched three shutout innings and allowed only one hit, an Ahmed double with two outs in the third inning. Hader walked two and struck out five.
"I thought Josh was excellent," Brewers manager Craig Counsell said. "First inning was probably a little extra adrenaline, but he got through it, which is a big thing. And then he was really good the next two innings."

Corbin walked one and struck out seven. He threw 74 pitches and was pulled after Martin Maldonado grounded to third baseman Jake Lamb, opening the sixth inning.
"Yeah, it was good. I felt pretty sharp," Corbin said. "I think I threw about 77 pitches. So it was good to go deep into a ballgame.
"I was joking that's what I was used to throwing last year in a whole game last season. But everything feels great and I felt strong toward the end as well. Hopefully, I'll just build off that."

Lamb made three errors on the night, the first on a Domingo Santana grounder leading off the second that went through Lamb's legs and into left field.
Scooter Gennett followed with a double to right-center, driving home Santana with the unearned run.

The D-backs tied the score at 2-2 in the sixth inning against Brewers reliever Corey Knebel, making his first appearance since March 8 because of a calf injury.
Paul Goldschmidt lined a shot to center that Keon Broxton darted in on before he watched it sail over his head to the fence for triple. Yasmany Tomas knocked in pinch-runner Peter O'Brien with a dribbler of a single down the third-base line.
