LF Torres to start in Texas League All-Star Game

Shortstop Rondon, right-handers Jester and Cimber also on South team

Outfielder Nick Torres has been named the starting designated hitter for the South team in the June 28 Double-A All-Star Game to be played in Springfield, Mo.
Torres is one of four San Antonio Missions named to the team. He will be joined by shortstop Jose Rondon and right-handed relief pitchers Jason Jester and Adam Cimber.
Torres, 22, the Padres' fourth-round pick in the 2014 Draft, is hitting .306 for the Missions with 19 doubles, five homers and 26 RBIs in 57 games. Rondon, 22, is hitting .273 with four homers and 25 RBIs in 56 games.
Jester, 25, has a 2.14 earned run average in 18 appearances with seven saves in eight chances. Cimber, 25, is 2-1 with a 2.28 ERA in 19 appearances.
Torres and Rondon were each 2-for-5 with a RBI Tuesday night as San Antonio (19-44) dropped a 4-3 decision in the 12th inning at Corpus Christi.
Starting right-handed pitcher Michael Kelly (2.55 ERA) allowed three runs on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts over seven innings. Right-hander Yimmi Brasoban (3.38) allowed three hits with five strikeouts in three scoreless innings. Left-hander Jose Torres (0-1, 2.45) took the loss, allowing a run on two hits with three strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings.
At El Paso, left fielder Alex Dickerson (.406) was 3-for-5 with his 14th double and 10th homer for two RBIs and two runs scored as the Chihuahuas (38-26) dropped a 5-4 decision to Albuquerque.
Third baseman Casey McElroy (.324) was 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. RF Hunter Renfroe (.314) was 2-for-5. CF Manuel Margot (.300) had his sixth triple in three at-bats with an RBI.
Starting right-hander Fabio Castillo (4.66 ERA) allowed a run on seven hits and three walks with two strikeouts in four innings. Left-hander Daniel Moskos (2.20) allowed a run on three hits and a walk in an inning. Right-hander Johnny Hellweg allowed three runs on four hits and a walk with two strikeouts in an inning to take the loss in his El Paso debut.
Left-hander Buddy Baumann (1.29 ERA) struck out three while pitching two perfect innings as his Major League rehab assignment continued. Right-hander Michael Dimock (2.16) allowed a hit with two strikeouts in a scoreless ninth.

CF Franchy Cordero (.271) had a double in three at-bats with an RBI and a run scored. Starting RHP Brett Kennedy (1-5, 4.81 ERA) allowed eight runs on seven hits and three walks with four strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings. RHP Martires Arias (4.37) allowed a hit with two strikeouts in 1 2/3 scoreless innings. LHP Trevor Seidenberger (6.40) allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits in two innings. RHP Trey Wingenter (5.14) gave up a run on a hit and a walk with a strikeout in an inning.
CLASS A FORT WAYNE (35-30) -- West Michigan 7, TIN CAPS 4: 2B Peter Van Gansen (.245) and 3B Carlos Belen (.195) were each 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs. RF Jhonatan Pena (.222) was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Starting RHP Austin Smith (1-4, 4.56 ERA) allowed six runs on nine hits and two walks with a strikeout in four innings. LHP Elvin Liriano (4.76) had three strikeouts in three perfect innings. RHP Nick Monroe (4.11) allowed a run on two walks and two strikeouts in two innings.
DOMINICAN SUMMER LEAGUE PADRES (3-6) -- ORIOLES 5, Padres 1: 3B Eguy Rosario (.385) was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Starting LHP Adolfo Hernandez (2.25 ERA) allowed three hits and a walk with four strikeouts over four scoreless innings. RHP Anderson Polanco (0-1, 2.45) allowed three runs on four hits and a walk with a strikeout in two innings to suffer the loss.
