Williams' wrist 'fine, normal' after warmup catch

June 7th, 2018

CHICAGO -- Phillies left fielder played catch for 10-15 minutes prior to Thursday's matinee after exiting Wednesday's contest in the bottom of the fifth inning with left wrist soreness.
Williams said his throwing arm was still a little tight when he started playing catch, but the more he threw, the better it felt. At the end of the session, he said "it felt fine, normal."
Manager Gabe Kapler was not available for comment before Thursday's game, so there was no official update on Williams' injury status.
Williams was not in the Phillies starting lineup on Thursday, but considering that he said he didn't feel tightness after throwing, it doesn't seem like he will be out for too long. Williams said the injury occurred while trying to catch ' double off the left-field wall in the second inning.
"I had so much momentum going for that ball," Williams said Thursday. "I was trying to reach and find the wall, but I didn't break down."
After few innings, he said, his left hand and wrist started to tighten up.
