Aroldis Chapman will not face charges from an October domestic dispute between the Yankees reliever and his girlfriend, according to the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
"We are all pleased that the Davie Police Department and the Office of the State Attorney took the time to fully investigate the matter and have concluded that charges were not warranted," Chapman's lawyer Paul Molle told the newspaper.
Chapman could still face discipline under Major League Baseball's domestic violence policy. MLB is still investigating the October incident.
Based on Miami police reports, more than a dozen officers were called to Chapman's home on Oct. 30, but no arrest was made because of "conflicting stories and lack of cooperation from all parties involved."
Chapman's girlfriend told officers he pushed her, put his hands around her neck and choked her during an argument, according to a police report. Police said there was not enough evidence to charge Chapman.
The Yankees acquired Chapman from the Reds on Dec. 28 for four Minor Leaguers.
