SEATTLE -- Indians manager Terry Francona on Monday was asked for his reaction to the Yahoo! Sports report from earlier in the day that said there was "serious concern" that outfielder Michael Brantley could miss "a significant amount of time" because of his right shoulder injury.
He didn't really have one.
"There's nothing different," Francona said, echoing earlier comments by Cleveland general manager Chris Antonetti to MLB Network's Ken Rosenthal. "Unfortunately for us, when things get out there, for whatever reason ... I don't blame people for asking, but from our time we left our flight to come out here, unless something drastically happened, which it didn't, it's the exact same."
In the words of Antonetti to Rosenthal, that means there's "nothing really new" on Brantley, who has been out since May 9 because of lingering issues from the surgery he had on his right shoulder in November.
"We don't have a clear timetable for that yet but are encouraged by progress he continues to make," Antonetti told Rosenthal.
Brantley returned in late April, but he played in only 11 games before going back on the disabled list on May 14.
"We'll look at Michael being ready whenever he's ready to come back and contribute," Antonetti told Rosenthal. "We are all of the same mindset in making sure that we go through his rehab in a very thoughtful and judicious way to make sure that when he comes back again, he's not only healthy, but strong and ready to contribute for the balance of the season."
Francona said Brantley, who is in Cleveland rehabbing, remains as diligent as ever.
"We've been really forthright in saying that the timetable is on him getting better," Francona said. "Absolutely there's been no setbacks. Nothing's changed."
