Northwest Ford Stores and the Seattle Mariners are collecting peanut butter at Safeco Field on Saturday, May 6 to benefit Northwest Harvest. The drive is part of the Ford Focus on Child Hunger campaign.
Fans are asked to bring unopened jars of peanut butter to the game against the Texas Rangers (6:10 pm start) and drop them off at any of the entrance gate collection sites or at the Ford vehicle display near section 143 on the Main Concourse. Fans can also give cash at the collection sites or donations can be made at FordFeedsKids.org.
The Safeco Field peanut butter drive is part of the five state campaign in the Pacific Northwest by Ford dealers to support community food banks and make sure no child goes hungry this summer. Since 2013, the Ford Focus on Child Hunger campaign has provided more than 2.5 million meals and snacks to kids across the region.
Many food banks experience an increased demand for nutritious, kid-friendly food during summer months when many children lose access to school nutrition programs. It is estimated nearly 24% of children are unsure how their next meal will be provided and when school is out during the summer months, local food banks carry a larger responsibility to feed kids. Peanut butter is an important protein staple to feed kids during these summer months, but is difficult to acquire in adequate quantities.
