Yankees acquire RHP Yoiber Marquina

Today the Yankees acquired minor league RHP Yoiber Marquina to complete the December 20, 2016, trade of RHP Nick Goody to Cleveland for a player to be named later.

Today the Yankees acquired minor league RHP Yoiber Marquina to complete the December 20, 2016, trade of RHP Nick Goody to Cleveland for a player to be named later.
 
Originally signed as a catcher by the Indians as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2012, Marquina, 21, went 1-1 with seven saves and a 3.16 ERA (31.1IP, 27H, 14BB, 43K, 2HR) in 28 games for Single-A Lake County in 2016. Since the start of this season, he has been on Lake County's disabled list, and on May 1, he underwent "Tommy John" surgery.
 
Over his four career minor league seasons from 2013-16 (the last three as a pitcher), Marquina is 6-4 with a 2.72 ERA and 19 saves (76.0IP, 64H, 23ER, 38BB, 95K, 4HR, .223 opp. BA) in 69 relief appearances.
