The Pittsburgh Pirates today signed right-handed pitcher Hai-Cheng Gong as a non-drafted free agent.    
The 18-year-old Gong pitched in the Chinese Development Academy and for Team China in the 2017 World Baseball Classic, where he made one scoreless appearance.
Gong will begin his professional career with the Gulf Coast League Pirates.
