Rangers Sign Eight More Selections from 2017 MLB Draft

The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has signed eight more selections from the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft, which took place last week.

The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has signed eight more selections from the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft, which took place last week.
The list is headed by the club's third round pick, catcher Matt Whatley from Oral Roberts University. Whatley hit .302 with 11 home runs and 49 RBI in 59 games this season as a junior. The native of Claremore, Oklahoma paced Oral Roberts with a .446 on base percentage and drew a team-high 50 walks, 11th-most in the nation. He joined Chi Chi Gonzalez (2013, 1st round) and Jose Trevino (2014, 6th round) as recent Rangers draft picks from Oral Roberts.
