Duke Energy is now accepting applications from nonprofit organizations working to support veterans in our community to receive funds raised through their 2017 Victories for Veterans program. Through this program, Duke Energy contributes $1,000 for every Rays regular season win to organizations serving veterans in Duke Energy's Florida service territory. So far this season, the donation total is $55,000.
Duke Energy will collect submissions from 501(c)(3) agencies to receive a portion of funds raised, up to $10,000 each, until August 25. Last year, the program raised $90,600 for 10 recipient organizations. Organizations can apply online at cybergrants.com/de/victoriesforveterans.
Selected organizations will be recognized at a Tampa Bay Rays home game this September during pregame festivities with an on-field check presentation by Duke Energy and Rays representatives.
"Duke Energy is proud to partner with the Tampa Bay Rays for the second consecutive year to honor local veterans through this unique initiative," said President of Duke Energy Florida Harry Sideris. "It will have a lasting effect on our community and is one of the many ways our company supports the men and women who have served our country."
