A's RHP Bobby Wahl undergoes thoracic outlet surgery

Oakland A's right-handed pitcher Bobby Wahl had successful thoracic outlet surgery on his right arm, the club announced.

OAKLAND, Calif. - Oakland A's right-handed pitcher Bobby Wahl had successful thoracic outlet surgery on his right arm, the club announced today. The surgery was performed by Dr. Greg Pearl in Dallas, Tex. today. Wahl is resting comfortably and will return to Oakland on Thursday to begin his rehab.
Wahl began the season at Triple-A Nashville and was 0-1 with three saves and a 1.93 ERA in eight games when he was recalled by Oakland May 3 to make his Major League debut. He logged a 4.70 ERA in seven relief appearances with the A's before he was placed on the DL May 24 with a strained right shoulder. Wahl began a rehab assignment at Single-A Stockton July 20, was transferred to Nashville July 25 and had his rehab halted Aug. 6.
