Prior to tonight's game vs. Detroit, the Chicago White Sox placed second baseman Yoán Moncada on the 10-day disabled list with a bone contusion of his right shin.
To take Moncada's place on the active roster, the White Sox returned third baseman Matt Davidson from his injury rehabilitation assignment at Class AAA Charlotte and reinstated him from the 10-day disabled list.
Moncada, 22, is hitting .188 (19-101) with six doubles, one triple, three home runs, 11 RBI and 13 runs scored over 30 games this season, his first with the White Sox after being acquired from Boston in a five-player trade on December 6, 2016.
Davidson, 26, was placed on the disabled list on August 8 (retroactive to August 4) with a right wrist contusion suffered when he was hit by a Marcus Stroman pitch on August 1 vs. Toronto. He played in one game on his rehab assignment with Charlotte.
Davidson is batting .238 (72-302) with 22 home runs, 51 RBI and a .500 slugging percentage in 88 games this season. He led the White Sox in homers at the time of his injury and still is tied for third among major-league rookies in that department.
