Twins Select Contract of LHP Gabriel Moya

The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have selected the contract of left-handed pitcher Gabriel Moya from Double-A Chattanooga.

The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have selected the contract of left-handed pitcher Gabriel Moya from Double-A Chattanooga.
Moya, who was acquired in a trade with Arizona in exchange for catcher John Ryan Murphy on July 27, 2017, posted a combined record of 6-1 with a 0.77 ERA (58.1 IP, 5 ER), 15 walks, 87 strikeouts and a .150 opponent batting average in 47 relief appearances between Double-A Jackson and Chattanooga in 2017.
The 22-year-old, Cabimas, VZ native has pitched in parts of six minor league seasons posting a career record of 22-10 with a 2.57 ERA (263.0 IP, 75 ER), 74 walks and 336 strikeouts.
To make room on the 40-man roster for Moya, the Twins have designated infielder Engelb Vielma for release or assignment.
Moya will be in available tonight, as the Twins host the Padres at Target Field, and will wear uniform number 58.
