Odorizzi joins Myers for reunion with Royals

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Jake Odorizzi came to the Rays on Dec. 9, 2012 in the same trade that sent James Shields to Kansas City in exchange for Wil Myers.

Now, they're both going back.

"It'll be cool," Odorizzi said Sunday, looking forward to the Rays' first road trip of the season. "Wil and I going back on the same team, together. It'll be pretty special.

"It'll be neat to see people I haven't seen in a while," Odorizzi continued. "I'll be running into people I know left and right.

"But now I'm on the other side of the field," added Odorizzi, who is slated to start the third game of the series against the Royals on Wednesday night. "I'll say my hellos and then get back to baseball."

"I'm excited to get back there and see everybody again," agreed Myers, who returned to Kansas City for one game after he was called up by the Rays last season, going 0-for-4 on Aug. 26.

"It's the first road trip of the year," said Myers. "When you go on the road, it feels like the season has really started.

"The biggest thing is to go in there and win," Myers added.
