Herrera favorite to make second All-Star team

June 2nd, 2018

SAN FRANCISCO -- Phillies center fielder arrived at Spring Training in February and Gabe Kapler immediately liked what he saw.
VOTE: 2018 Camping World MLB All-Star Ballot
"I think he is just physically presenting beautifully right now," Kapler said in spring.
Herrera has impressed on the field, too. Since he sat on the bench on Opening Day -- remember that? -- Herrera has been one of the best outfielders in the National League. Herrera finished May ranked sixth amongst NL position players in WAR (2.3) according to Baseball-Reference. He ranked fourth among NL outfielders in batting average (.313) and fifth in on-base percentage (.377). He also ranked fourth among NL center fielders in OPS (.862) and fourth in slugging percentage (.485).
It makes him a heavy favorite to make his second NL All-Star team, although it will be interesting to see how he will fare in fan voting. There has not been a Phillies player to win a fan vote since in 2014.
The other Phillies on the ballot are first baseman , second baseman , third baseman , shortstop and outfielders and .
