Omaha's Eibner has career game with nine RBIs

KANSAS CITY -- Brett Eibner had the kind of a day that even George Brett might envy.

Eibner, playing for the Royals' Triple-A club at Omaha on Wednesday afternoon, had nine RBIs, as he went 5-for-5 with two home runs in a 20-3 rout of visiting Memphis.

He was at the forefront of a 29-hit attack with a stiff 18-mph wind blowing from right field to left at Werner Park. His hits included a pair of three-run homers and a three-run double.

"It was just one of those days where I felt locked in -- it seemed like I got every pitch I was looking for," Eibner told MiLB.com.

The nine RBIs topped the Werner Park record of seven by catcher Brett Hayes, now with Kansas City, on April 14, 2013. It was the most RBIs for Omaha since Mike Moustakas drove in 11 on Aug. 30, 2010, against Round Rock at old Rosenblatt Stadium. Moustakas had three homers.

The Pacific Coast League record for most RBIs in a game is 12 by Pete Schneider of the Vernon Tigers on May 11, 1923. He had five home runs in the game.
