Jones (hip, ankle) scratched from O's lineup

BALTIMORE -- was a late scratch from the Orioles' lineup on Memorial Day, missing his third consecutive game as he deals with a left hip and ankle injury.
Jones was initially in Monday's lineup against the Yankees, though manager Buck Showalter cautioned reporters pregame that he wanted to check on the center fielder again, and that Jones starting wasn't concrete.
"He said he's feeling better every day. I think with the quick turnaround, it's like I told you all this morning, we kind of met and felt like it would be good to give him another day," Showalter said after the Orioles' 3-2 win. "And then, with the big turnaround from today into tomorrow night. And if we still have an issue there [on Tuesday], we probably need to think about some other direction."
Jones was replaced in center by Joey Rickard, who hit leadoff in the series opener and went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run. Jones, who last played Friday, is batting .258 with eight homers and 21 RBIs in 45 games this season.
