Pipeline Preview: Hays looks to extend hitting streak

June 27th, 2017

Here's a look at top prospects to watch in today's Minor League action:
Hitter to watch: Austin Hays (Orioles' No. 7), Bowie vs. Altoona (7:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Hays extended his hitting streak to 12 games with a 1-for-3 performance on Monday. Hays' hitting streak spans two levels as the 21-year-old was promoted to Bowie after batting .328 through 64 games with Class A Advanced Frederick. Hays is hitting .300 through his first five games at the Double-A level.

Pitcher to watch: Chance Adams (Yankees' No. 7), Scranton/Wilkes-Barre vs. Syracuse (6:35 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
After dominating in Double-A, Adams, the No. 96 overall prospect, has thrown well in his first taste of the Triple-A level. The 22-year-old is in a good rhythm lately, allowing just one earned run over his past two starts -- a total of 12 innings. Adams is also coming off an outing in which he struck out eight and gave up just one hit over six scoreless frames, lowering his Triple-A ERA to 2.12 through eight starts.

Duel of the Day: (White Sox No. 4) vs (Indians' No. 16), Charlotte vs. Columbus (7:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Giolito, the No. 30 overall prospect, cruised through four innings in his last start before surrendering three runs in the fifth. The highly-touted prospect is just 2-6 with a 4.95 ERA this season but has lowered both his ERA and WHIP each month after getting off to a rough start.

Morimando is also putting together his best month of the season as he's 3-0 with a 1.88 ERA through four starts (28 2/3 innings) in June. The lefty was hit around a bit in his last outing -- giving up four earned runs in six innings -- but prior to that, he'd surrendered just two runs over a span of 22 2/3 innings.
