SARASOTA, Fla. -- The Orioles erupted for eight runs over the first three innings en route to a 12-5 win over the Red Sox on Wednesday at Ed Smith Stadium, helping right-hander Dylan Bundy, who made his Grapefruit League debut.
After Mookie Betts opened the game by reaching on an error by Chris Johnson, Andrew Benintendi's home run to right field gave Boston an early 2-0 lead. But Bundy retired the next three batters to limit the damage.

The Orioles erased the deficit in the bottom of the inning, sending eight batters to the plate against Boston lefty Henry Owens. After Adam Jones, who went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, hit a one-out solo home run, Manny Machado walked before Mark Trumbo struck out. Chris Davis singled and Welington Castillo doubled to tie the score. Johnson's two-run double put the Orioles ahead, 4-2.
In two innings, Bundy allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits with no walks and two strikeouts. He threw 38 pitches, 29 for strikes.
Owens gave up four runs on four hits and three walks and struck out three. In two innings, he threw 54 pitches, 29 for strikes.
"I felt good, my body, my arm, my mental game," Owens said. "But the results obviously weren't there in the first two outings I've had now. But I think there are some positives and I look forward to keep working and get everything to try and come together all at once."
Owens was followed by righty Tyler Thornburg, acquired in a December trade with the Brewers. Thornburg gave up four runs (three earned) in two-thirds of an inning.
The O's Sean Coyle, formerly with the Red Sox, drilled a three-run homer in the seventh to make it 11-3. Matt Dominguez drove in a pair in the eighth to cut Boston's deficit to 11-5.
