DETROIT -- Looking to bolster their bullpen and get back to a seven-man relief corps, the Orioles made a pair of roster moves on the heels of Tuesday's 13-11, 13-inning win over the Tigers. Baltimore optioned left-hander Donnie Hart to Triple-A Norfolk and recalled righty Miguel Castro from Double-A Bowie. Stefan Crichton was also recalled from Triple-A, with catcher Francisco Pena designated for assignment to clear a spot.
"That was one of the biggest factors," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said of the O's limited picking pool, given the 10-day required stay for an optioned player in the Minors. "Donnie is capable of pitching a little bit better, he's hit a little rut there. If he goes down there and does what he's capable of, he'll be back. It's an open end. That's what we've told Crichton a couple times, and he's come back. Hopefully it will settle out some."
Crichton, who got into Detroit on Tuesday night, has been part of the O's rotating roster several times already. Castro, acquired earlier this season in a trade for the Rockies, is on the Orioles' roster for the first time.
"We like him. He's got a good arm," Showalter said of Castro. "Has got some Major League experience. He's been throwing well. Had some time in extended [spring] to get going with his inactivity. But he's been pitching well, and he's our best option."
Castro and Crichton will provide length in the 'pen, with the hope being that it will be enough to get the reliefs corps back on their feet. Crichton has pitched to a 1.56 ERA with Triple-A over seven games (17 1/3 innings). He's allowed four earned runs over 3 1/3 innings with the O's.

"When you go back down to the Minor Leagues after being up here, the pressure you feel up here makes going down feel like nothing," Crichton said of his recent success with Norfolk. "It's just a matter of trusting my stuff and all what everyone says. Trust your stuff and don't try to change anything."
