ST. PETERSBURG -- Chris Davis exited the O's 11-2 win over the Rays on Tuesday night in the fifth inning with left hand soreness, though he doesn't expect to miss any time.
"It's in his palm a little bit, something he's had for a couple of months," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said. "Just talked to [Davis] a little bit between innings and decided not to take a chance potentially. We'll see what tomorrow brings. He's going to want to play. … It's something that Chris has been pushing his way through."
Davis, who homered in the second inning, was replaced at first base by Steve Pearce, who shifted over from left field. Michael Bourn entered the game in left field
"Some days it hurts, some days it hurts more," Davis said. "You try to find a way through it. We got a lot of guys up here right now who can cover a number of positions, so it's nice to have.
Davis agreed with Showalter in that he didn't think the injury would cause him to miss time now.
"I've been playing with it since April, so we will keep going," Davis said. "We'll see what tomorrow brings when tomorrow brings it."
