BALTIMORE -- Chris Tillman and Darren O'Day both threw prior to Sunday's series finale against the Yankees, and manager Buck Showalter said the sessions went well and the pair will throw again Wednesday.
The O's are hoping Tillman (right shoulder bursitis), who threw off a mound for the first time since hitting the disabled list (retroactive to Aug. 21), can return on Sept. 11. There's no definitive timeline for O'Day (right shoulder rotator cuff strain), though they are hoping he's able to go to their spring facility in Sarasota, Fla., while the O's play the Rays in St. Petersburg to further his rehab.
Baltimore will make a 40-man roster move prior to Monday's game, with Brian Duensing slated to join the O's and travel to St. Petersburg with them.
"We are going to add him tomorrow. That's the plan, unless something has changed," Showalter said of Duensing, who has been on the 60-day disabled list with left elbow inflammation. "He's had two or three really good [rehab] outings and is ready to go."
Duensing has a 5.40 ERA in seven appearances with the Orioles.
Joey Rickard, cleared for baseball activities on Friday, has not started swinging yet. Showalter said Rickard -- who is on the 60-day DL with a right thumb injury -- can't return until Sept. 19, so he's going to take things slow.
