Orioles claim RHP Vance Worley off waivers

The Orioles today announced that they have claimed RHP Vance Worley off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates. To make room for him on the 40-man roster, RHP Jorge Rondon has been designated for assignment.

Worley, 28, went 4-6 with a 4.02 ERA (71.2IP, 32ER) in 23 games (eight starts) with the Pirates in 2015. He posted a 2.83 ERA (28.2IP, 9ER) and held opponents to a .236 batting average over his 15 appearances as a reliever. In 104 career Major League games (81 starts) over six seasons, he has gone 31-28 with a 3.79 ERA (508.2IP, 214ER). Worley won a career-high 11 games with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2011 and has tossed 100 or more innings in three of his six Major League seasons.

Rondon, 27, went 0-1 with a 13.19 ERA (14.1IP, 21ER) in 10 games between the Orioles and Colorado Rockies in 2015.
