Encouraged Bundy feeling fine after outing

Orioles righty pitching in first Spring Training since 2012

March 7th, 2016

SARASOTA, Fla. -- For Orioles pitcher Dylan Bundy -- the club's No. 2 prospect, as ranked by MLBPipeline.com -- the day after his outing is nearly as important. And, so far this spring, it's been pretty encouraging.
"It feels kind of like my first year in 2012 where I wasn't getting any soreness after any kind of start, how many pitches I threw, however many innings. I wasn't getting sore," said Bundy, who had Tommy John surgery in 2013. "That's the case for [me] right now. I'm not getting sore, which is good. It means I'm doing the right shoulder work, the right workouts, and right now, it's the right kind of balance in between everything."

Bundy, who struck out two in an inning of work on Sunday against the Red Sox, also debuted in Spring Training in Fort Myers in 2012 against Boston. He remembers facing Adrian Gonzalez and Dustin Pedroia. But this spring, the right-hander -- who is projected to part of the Opening Day bullpen -- is trying to adjust to a relief schedule instead of preparing for a Minor League season as a starter.
"I've heard around camp that I was going to get used a lot in spring like a Major League workload in the 'pen, so I'm happy about that," said Bundy, who has also impressed manager Buck Showalter already this spring. "I like to go out there and throw a lot. I've always been a guy who likes to get the ball a lot and throw a lot. The more they put me on the mound, the happier I'll be, and it will be fun."
