O's Cabrera gets clearance to travel to Canada

BOSTON -- Infielder Everth Cabrera will be eligible to travel with the Orioles to Toronto next week, despite some previous legal issues.

The O's, with the help of Major League Baseball, have gotten clearance that will allow Cabrera to get through customs for the three-game series versus the Blue Jays that starts on Tuesday. Charged with a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest in San Diego, Cabrera was facing up to a year in local jail when the Padres non-tendered him in November.

In lieu of an April trial, Cabrera took a plea deal that includes probation, community service and a fine.
