ST. PETERSBURG -- Orioles outfielder Hyun Soo Kim will travel with the team to New York on Sunday night, avoiding the disabled list for now as he went through a series of tests on Sunday morning.
"He's better," manager Buck Showalter said of Kim, who has been sidelined with a right hamstring strain since the final game of the first half. "He's getting close. He could do a lot of things he wasn't as good at Thursday. That was encouraging. Just one small thing still there that we just want to make sure of. So he's close.
"We'll see if he's a player on Monday or Tuesday. We think he's close. If he's not a player that third day, we'd probably DL him, but we think he's close."
Showalter said that the Orioles' top pitching prospect Hunter Harvey, who exited his start for Class A Short-Season Aberdeen on Saturday night, will get an MRI. Harvey was throwing 96-97 mph, and Showalter said the organization is hopeful it's just some soreness. Harvey has been hampered by injuries the past few years, with right flexor mass (forearm) soreness the latest.
