O's lose challenge on close play at the plate

Suzuki's two-run double stands as called as Kubel beats throw home

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Orioles lost their first challenge of the season in the bottom of the seventh inning in Sunday's game against the Twins.

Down a run to start the inning, O's reliever Ryan Webb allowed a double to deep left field by Kurt Suzuki. Manager Buck Showalter challenged the close play at home plate in which Jason Kubel, the second run across, was ruled safe.

After a 58-second review, the call was confirmed, putting the Twins up, 5-2. As a result, Baltimore lost its challenge for the remainder of the game.
