Orioles Make Five Roster Moves

The Orioles today announced that they have reinstated RHP KEVIN GAUSMAN from the 15-day disabled list, selected the contract of RHP MYCHAL GIVENS from Double-A Bowie, optioned RHPs TYLER WILSON and MIKE WRIGHT to Triple-A Norfolk, and transferred RHP JASON GARCIA to the 60-day disabled list.

Gausman, 24, was placed on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder tendinitis on May 8. He made three rehab appearances with Class-A (Advanced) Frederick and Double-A Bowie, going 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA (8.1IP, 5ER) and 10 strikeouts. In eight games with the Orioles this season, Gausman is 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA (12.0IP, 6ER). Over 48 career Major League appearances (25 starts), he is 11-12 with a 4.21 ERA (173.0IP, 81ER) and 150 strikeouts. 

Givens, 25, went 3-1 with a 1.60 ERA (39.1IP, 7ER) and 12 saves in 23 games with Double-A Bowie this season. He posted a season-long seven-game scoreless streak, May 23-June 11, spanning 11.0 innings. In 87 career minor league games as a pitcher, Givens went 6-6 with a 3.20 ERA (140.2IP, 50ER) and 18 saves after originally being selected in the second round of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft as a position player. He will wear No. 60. 

Wilson, 25, has gone 1-1 with a 2.12 ERA (17.0IP, 4ER) in five games (one start) with the Orioles this season.

Wright, 25, has gone 2-3 with a 5.16 ERA (29.2IP, 17ER) over six games with the Orioles this season.

Garcia, 22, was placed on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder tendinitis on May 13.
