Machado singled sharply in the fifth and scored on Chris Davis' three-run home run in the Orioles' 10-9 loss to the Cardinals.
"It was one of those Spring Training offensive-friendly days," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said.
Showalter is focused more on Machado's defense as he moves from third base to shortstop.
"I think he's real excited about that," Showalter said. "He knows that we're really counting on him to bring a lot to play a really demanding position."
