MILWAUKEE -- Mark Trumbo has started all 83 games for the Orioles this season, but that streak could now be in jeopardy.
The Orioles' right fielder suffered a left calf contusion after fouling a ball off his leg during a fifth-inning at-bat in a 6-2 loss to the Brewers on Tuesday.
"Trumbo fouled a ball off his calf and bone," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said. "We got an X-ray. It looks like it was negative on this X-ray. We'll see how it feels tomorrow. It got to the point where he couldn't really function on it."
Trumbo singled later in the at-bat and was then doubled off second base after a line-drive out hit to third base by Orioles catcher Caleb Joseph.
He stayed in to play right field in the fifth inning before being replaced by Joey Rickard as part of a double switch prior to the bottom of the sixth. Rickard drove in Baltimore's first run of the game with a single to center field in the seventh.
"It is pretty stiff," Trumbo said. "I wasn't running too well."
Trumbo has started 97 consecutive games for the Orioles dating back to Sept. 18, 2016, when he returned from a two-game absence due to back spasms. He started 159 of Baltimore's 162 games in his first season with the club.
"It is part of the game," Trumbo said. "You're playing hard. … We'll see how it responds tomorrow."
