TAMPA, Fla. -- The Orioles trimmed their roster on Friday, optioning right-hander Parker Bridwell and left-hander Chris Lee to Double-A Bowie.
"It's exciting to have them both in that rotation there in Bowie," manager Buck Showalter said. "We're going to have a pretty good group there with [Jason] Garcia and those two guys. I'd like to think [Hunter] Harvey at some point this year might join them, some other guys, too. It's a good, young group there."

Lee is ranked as the organization's No. 9 prospect by MLBPipeline.com after posting a 3.29 ERA over 145 innings between three Minor League levels last season, reaching Bowie. He entered Friday tied for the team lead with six appearances in Grapefruit League play but had allowed seven runs (six earned) on 11 hits over 5 2/3 innings. Lee walked none and struck out two.
"He's in a good place," Showalter said. "He's 23 years old. I think he can impact us at some point."
Showalter added that Bridwell, the Orioles' No. 21 prospect, "made some strides" during his time in camp. The 24-year-old, who produced a 3.99 ERA at Bowie last year, pitched five times this spring, allowing four earned runs and six hits over 6 2/3 innings, with four walks and three strikeouts.
With these two moves, the O's have 45 players remaining in Major League camp, including 10 non-roster invitees.

• Catcher Matt Wieters, who is recovering from a sore right elbow, progressed to taking some swings against a pitching machine on Friday, Showalter said.

• Left-hander Jeff Beliveau will throw an inning in a Minor League game on Monday. Beliveau missed most of last season with a torn labrum in his shoulder and has yet to appear in a game this spring.
• Right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez threw 75 pitches (50 strikes) over five innings in a start with Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday. Jimenez allowed one run on one hit and one walk, while striking out seven.
• Pedro Alvarez was not in the Orioles' lineup on Friday, making this his first day off since he made his spring debut on Sunday. Alvarez hit an RBI double in his first Grapefruit League at-bat but has gone 1-for-16 with no walks and seven strikeouts since then. He struck out in all four at-bats against the Twins on Thursday night at Ed Smith Stadium, and Showalter said Alvarez was looking at video of his swing afterward.
"He's doing fine," Showalter said. "It's like golf. When you haven't played in seven, eight months, the first time the golf gods let you play well, and you go, 'Man, I've got this figured out.' And then the next three or four times you go back they slap you back to reality. So he started out the first couple games, looked real comfortable, and he'll go through that curve.
"So far, so good. I think he's going to have a big year for us."
• Outfielder Xavier Avery was in Tampa for Friday night's game against the Yankees but was unavailable due to a hip flexor injury he sustained on Thursday night.
