Norris hopeful of making next start Friday
Orioles right-hander exited last outing with tightness in his right groin
NEW YORK -- Orioles right-hander Bud Norris, who exited Saturday's 6-1 win over the Yankees with right groin tightness before the sixth inning, remains hopeful he will make Friday's scheduled start.
"It's a little sore, for sure," Norris said Sunday morning. "Just going to do some treatment today, ice and [electric stimulation]. It's just a big bruise right now. I don't want to miss any time. I hope I can be back out there on Friday."
Norris, who jokingly tried to mimic a limp after talking to reporters, could also be pushed back to Saturday. With the O's employing a six-man rotation for most of the week -- and with Thursday's off-day -- Sunday starter Chris Tillman could pitch Friday on regular rest if needed.
But the Orioles are fairly confident Norris, who has allowed just two earned runs over his last 19 2/3 innings, will be OK.
"There's not the normal discoloration you look for if it's going to be long term, which is good," manager Buck Showalter said.
