Orioles recall Brach, Meek DFA'd off 25-man

KANSAS CITY -- The Orioles made another bullpen roster move on Friday by recalling right-hander Brad Brach from Triple-A Norfolk and designating right-hander Evan Meek for assignment off the 25-man roster after a one-game stay in the Majors.

Brach was 3-1 with a 3.26 ERA for Norfolk. Over 19 1/3 innings, he struck out 38 and walked five.

Brach arrived in Kansas City on Thursday night and said he's excited about having another opportunity to make a contribution for the Orioles.

"Any time you get the call to come up here, that's why you are playing the game," Brach said. "When I came up last time, I think I was going a little too quick. Hopefully, this time I can settle down and pitch the way I normally do."

Brach appeared in two games for the Orioles earlier this season. Over 1 2/3 innings, he allowed five hits and three earned runs. He struck out three and didn't issue a walk.

"He provides a little more length," manager Buck Showalter said before Friday night's game against the Royals. "He pitched real well down there."
