Club also options Miranda, adds OF D. Alvarez

LOS ANGELES -- Looking to keep their bullpen fresh on this three-city road trip, the Orioles recalled left-hander Jayson Aquino from Double-A Bowie, optioning Ariel Miranda -- Sunday's callup -- in his spot prior to Monday's opener against the Dodgers.
As expected, the team also placed outfielder Pedro Alvarez on the bereavement list and added outfielder Dariel Alvarez from Triple-A in his spot. Pedro Alvarez is expected back on Friday.
"Dariel's been consistent down there," manager Buck Showalter said. "He's done pretty good, and Miranda wouldn't be available for three days. Wanted to make sure we had a fresh arm down there. It was Aquino's day to pitch, anyway. I'm pretty proud we came out of four tough days pitching [in Seattle], and we have just about everybody available today."
The 23-year-old Aquino went 4-7 with a 3.25 ERA and 55 strikeouts over 14 appearances (13 starts) with Bowie. He held hitters to a .269 (84-for-312) batting average this season while allowing 22 walks. He was acquired by the Orioles on April 7 from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for cash considerations and has also been in the Colorado, Toronto, Pittsburgh and Cleveland organizations. He will be making his Major League debut.
Álvarez, 27, hit .271/.309/.363 with three home runs, 21 doubles, and 33 RBIs in 82 games this season with Norfolk. He made his Major League debut last season and played 12 games with the Orioles, batting .241/.290/.370.
Miranda made his Major League debut Sunday at Seattle and allowed three earned runs over two innings.
