The Orioles recalled right-hander Yefry Ramirez from Triple-A Norfolk and designated left-hander Nestor Cortes, Jr. for assignment, the club announced Tuesday.

Ramirez is the Orioles' No. 19 prospect; Cortes is No. 25 and was a Rule 5 pick by the Orioles this year.

Ramirez has allowed one run in four innings for the Tides so far in 2018. The 24-year-old allowed one earned run in two innings in Spring Training with the Orioles.

Cortes recorded a 2.06 ERA in the Minor Leagues last season, and won a roster spot with Baltimore after striking out 11 batters and giving up nine earned runs in 17 1/3 spring innings. However, the left-hander struggled during his first crack at the Majors, surrendering two homers and four earned runs in his first 4 2/3 big league innings.
