Orioles Spring Training Visitor

Not to be outdone by Justin Verlander, who brought a baby Tiger to Spring Training with him on Friday, the Baltimore Orioles had an attention-grabbing visitor of their own on Saturday.

Meet Chance the Chimp, who graced the 2012 AL Wild Card winners with his presence – posing for pictures, and perhaps vying for a spot in the Orioles lineup this season (Ed, anyone? Anyone?).

Chimps ARE known for wielding large sticks to fend off predators, and the Orioles, who finished in the middle of the pack with 712 runs scored last season, could use that extra punch at the back end of their lineup so they aren’t stuck in so many one-run games (their well-documented 29-9 in one-run games in 2012 will be tough to repeat).

As for rumors of an “Ed” sequel being filmed, sources tell me that Matt LeBlanc was unavailable, so producers have reached out to David Schwimmer.

If the fun with animals around spring training this weekend has told us anything, it’s that everyone is ready for some regular season baseball. Here we go!
