McFarland's elbow feeling better, could throw soon

March 9th, 2016

SARASOTA, Fla. -- Orioles reliever T.J. McFarland said his left elbow felt better on Wednesday morning, and he could be throwing by the end of the week.
"Still no specific dates or timeline or timetable yet, but the swelling's gone down significantly," McFarland said. "So that's a good sign."

Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Tuesday that he felt like McFarland may be able to pick up a ball before Sunday, and the manager told reporters in Clearwater on Wednesday that he felt confident McFarland -- along with Brian Matusz -- would be healthy enough to break camp.
Worth noting
• Showalter also told reporters that Chris Davis requested to travel for Wednesday's game to get some more at-bats.
• The Orioles' Minor Leaguers took on Keio University's baseball team on Wednesday at Ed Smith Stadium. Keio, located in Japan, has been training at the nearby IMG Academy for the past few weeks. This was the O's second matchup of the spring against Keio.
